Wallace Risk Solutions and Report Systems Australia have created two continued professional developement course fo building consultants and timber pest detection consultants.

Continued Professional Development – Inspection & Reporting Skills – Building Consultants Course

This continued professional development course is an easy and convenient way for building consultants (AS 4349.1) to keep their inspection and reporting skills up-to-date. 

In this course, particular attention has been given to helping address current inspector shortfalls associated with professional indemnity insurance claims, including oversights in reporting on accessibility issues and evidence of major defects.

This course assumes that a participant is currently working as an inspector in the pre-purchase inspection industry and is suitably qualified and experienced to hold professional indemnity insurance as a residential building consultant.

The course is made up of the following modules:

  • Legal Considerations
  • Communication Skills
  • Pre-Inspection Obligations
  • Workplace Health & Safety
  • The Inspection
  • The Report
  • Report Writing

This continued professional development course is an easy and convenient way for timber pest consultants (AS 4349.3) to keep their inspection and reporting skills up-to-date. 

In this course, particular attention has been given to helping address current inspector shortfalls associated with professional indemnity insurance claims, including oversights in reporting on accessibility issues and evidence of timber pests, especially termites.

This course assumes that a participant is currently working as an inspector in the pre-purchase inspection industry and is suitably qualified and experienced to hold professional indemnity insurance as a timber pest detection consultant.

The course is made up of the following modules:

  • The Standard Timber Pest Detection Report
  • Legal Considerations
  • Communication Skills
  • Pre-Inspection Obligations
  • Workplace Health & Safety
  • Timber Pest Case Studies
  • The Inspection

Course Review

Each course participant will be given a hardcopy colour course manual to support the open book style of education.

The Exercises consist of multiple-choice questions, a mixture of accessibility and defect statements and the completion of a pre-engagement inspection agreement and a pre-purchase standard property report. 

The multiple-choice questions and accessibility/defect statements will be filled out online. 

To complete the pre-engagement inspection agreement and the report, a course participant will be given an option to access:

  • the My Reporting App website to use the iPad or Android APP; or
  • customised Microsoft Word forms.

On successful completion of this course, a Continued Professional Development (CPD) Certificate will be issued.
